Alex Feechan is an award winning textile designer, with a 1^st class Honours degree, and an MA from the prestigious Royal College of Art London. With many years of practical design experience in the industry and 7years of Educational and Lecturing experience. In January 2007 Alex felt that the time was right to establish her own label contemporary Scottish based lifestyle brand.

The business is run form the designer’s home studio in the picturesque village of Innerleithen (in the heart of the Scottish Borders). From the designer’s home are views of stunning scenery. The hill the family woke to every morning is called “Plora Rig” well known within the world of “Mountain Biking” as it is home to the famous “Red Bull” downhill trail” As a very novice mountain biker Alex felt the name “Plora” was very appropriate for her new lifestyle brand!. And so “Plora” was born!

In addition to the inspiration of the landscape, the skills and history of the Scottish textile Industry play an important part in the creation of the Plora story. All products are manufactured in Scotland using the finest Geelong Lambswool and age old knitting techniques. The Scottish knitwear Industry has an outstanding reputation and has supplied some of the worlds famous design houses with beautiful knitwear.

The “Plora “lifestyle brand has been going for 2 years now, Alex has always believed that the textile industry in Scotland is a great resource for any designer, combined with the beauty colours and texture of the countryside everything is here to create highly desirable “Made in Scotland” products. Through good design, well made products and customer satisfaction we hope’s to build up a contemporary Scottish based lifestyle brand that we can all be proud of.
